Even-Zohar suggests in this paper a set of hypotheses for handling the relations between the processes and procedures involved in the making of repertoire on the one hand, and import and transfer on the other. He also draws attention to the socio-cultural juncture where transfer plays a role. He argues that this role sometimes becomes a major one for the fate of societies and cultures, but that even at times when it is a minor one, it is nonetheless present and indispensable.
