The thought of Derrida has been widely spread in Greece thanks to the mediation of translation, from the 1960s to the present day. We present here the translation work and the annotations by Bitsoris who, between 1995 and 2019, carried out the greatest number of translations of Derrida, that is 11 volumes translated and 7 translations of articles. Teaching at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Bitsoris, specialized in philosophy and translation studies, also contributed to the dissemination of the French philosopher’s thought through numerous publications, seminars and university conferences. After a brief overview of the numerous translations of Derrida in Greece, we shall concentrate on the translation approach and the contribution of Bitsoris. Comparing the source and target texts, we focus on his translation strategy as it emerges from the various solutions he offers in order to overcome the dead ends of the untranslatable, polysemy, neologisms and implicit references.
