This paper provides an overview of the demand for translation in a government agency of the Balearic Islands. The socio-linguistic character of the autonomous community, described as “imperfect bilingualism,” as well as its working languages, is described. An explanation of the type of documents translated and the translation problems encountered is followed by a description of the resources used to perform the different types of translation.
