Are emotions essentially addressed to others? Are they not inner states but moves in interactions with others? What makes moves addressed to others in a semiotic system emotional? Do words shape emotions? People in a different culture have words for emotions some of which may not match our words, some of which may even designate emotions for which we have no names. Are their emotions opaque to us?
