This paper aims to approach the different ways of assembling translations and translators, and the generating system of these renderings in 19th- century Argentina. This is based on Tabernig de Pucciarelli’s statement: “translations are historical products where features and preferences of the age in which they are made arise”. In accordance with this, the following concepts can be serialized or concatenated: system, canon of authors (closed, even disperse), the aim of the translation (with the aid of Vermeer’s Skopostheorie, and the specificity of the versions which correspond to a certain system. The paper also diagrams some systemic translation paradigms characteristic of the 19th century, namely the Neoclassical, the Romantic (generation of 1837) and the End of the Century (generation of 1880) models.
