Abstract

This paper seeks to chart the delicate changes in the Swedish perception of translations of classical Chinese poetry over the span of an entire century, encapsulated in the title to her article – from ‘apology’ to ‘a matter of course’. The paper is particularly attuned to the changing tastes of readers as reflected in the translations produced over time.
