Abstract
In the context of doctoral work and beyond, this paper sets out to raise readers’ awareness of the importance of the critical reading component in research and to provide such guidelines, in the hope that this will contribute to raise the quality of this essential part of scholarly work in the interpreting research community. The author offers a systematic approach to critical reading, designed to help beginners get the most from the literature they read as a background to and in the process of doing their own research.
