Abstract

This paper states that sciences make a distinction between theory and practice. That dichotomy is also visible in the domain of research: a distinction is made between fundamental research and applied research. In translation, many theorists have never translated and many translators have never expressed their relationship to original writings. The universe of translation seems to provide different answers to identical problems. In this article the following questions are answered: is translation theory reality? Is translation theory necessary?
