Abstract

In Bible translation errors usually result from inadequate syntactic rendering, which marks the translated text as such, depriving it of its naturalness. The most serious errors, however, are those in cultural equivalence because they bring about opacity instead of just clumsiness. Although identity is impossible, both in intra- and interlingual communication, a very close approximation can be obtained if these two problems are solved in translation.
