Abstract
This paper attempts to analyse the scope of the translator’s creativity when translating audiovisual texts which, given their multiple character, present specific constraints. For this purpose, the paper attempts to apply some of the conclusions drawn by register analysis to the analysis of audiovisual texts. Thus, the paper will proceed through the following steps: a) register analysis in audiovisual texts; b) the interaction between verbal and visual narration; c) the use of cohesive elements between both narrations; d) constraints inherent to audiovisual texts; and e) the scope of the translator’s creativity – a framework of analysis.
