Abstract
In this article, the author embarks upon the paralanguage expressed in Alice in Wonderland, comparing it to the paralanguage conveyed in various translations of the book. First, there are a few general thoughts on the distinctions made between paraverbal and nonverbal behaviour, followed by a short survey of the various forms in which paraverbal behaviour of both the characters and the narrator is represented in the first three chapters of Alice in Wonderland. The last section deals with the translatological aspect.
