Abstract

The purpose of this article is to scrutinise the translations of Lord Byron’s The Isles of Greece by Liang Qichao, Ma Junwu, Su Manshu and Hu Shi. The author aims to discuss the strong and weak points of individual translations, the poetic forms adopted and the methods used to deal with the difficulties of historical and cultural allusions and indicate what was kept and what was lost in translating Byron’s poetry.
