Abstract

The first part of this article concentrates on the context. In this section, the basis for selection, why detective fiction is chosen, pioneering translations, the blossoming of a genre and the elite’s reaction are discussed. The second part discusses specific technical (not necessarily textual) reflections that may clarify the elusive word ‘quality’.
