Abstract
This paper investigates how Wang Guowei responded to his exposure to Western learning during an early stage of his academic career, namely, the period between 1902 and 1911. His knowledge of Western and other languages, especially his translations of Western works as well as his thoughts about the nature of translation will be looked into as belonging to his reception of Western learning.
