The collection La Novel·la Estrangera comprised 38 titles published fortnightly in the first phase, and weekly in the second phase. Generally short in format (between 40 and 80 pages), the collection comprised almost exclusively short stories, apart from the occasional novel. Through its format, design, content, price, distribution and sales strategy, it aimed to attract a wide readership. The eclectic choice of authors in translation was also designed to aid this approach. Launched by young writers, the undertaking suffered from poor publishing facilities, which eventually led to its downfall.
