Abstract

This paper focuses on the thinking-aloud method, an attempt to externalise internal (mental processes) to gain some insights into the functioning of the subtitler’s brain. First, the author briefly discusses thinking-aloud research in language-related fields. Subsequently, she embarks on a concrete experiment, aiming to discover what types of verbalisation accompany the subtitling process and to investigate whether there is any important difference in automation of subtitling processes related to how much subtitling experience there is vis-à-vis differences found in other TAP experiments in translation.
