Abstract
This paper first explains how non-verbal communication becomes confused at multi-lingual conferences. Subsequently, the author argues how this could lead to numerous, often amusing incidents, based on her own experience as a conference interpreter. Finally, she discusses the major role of the interpreter in reducing the scrambling process as much as possible.
