The literary translations from Chinese into Catalan that have been made throughout history are the result of their own translators' personal and peculiar interests. This paper wants to corroborate, by means of a chronological review until 1999, that all the translated works from Chinese into Catalan are excluded from a constant sinological trend and are out of a permanent reference towards oriental literatures. And this points out one of the shortfalls of Catalan literature, especially in relation to other cultures and literatures all over Europe.
