Abstract
What do ministers of finance talk about when they get together? Based on a Portuguese-language source text on Brazil, this lecture will explore some basic economic terminology, with emphasis on meaning and proper usage in English and Brazilian Portuguese. The main topics covered will be exchange rate regimes, inflation, GDP growth, the balance of trade, interest rates, privatization, integration, the Real Plan, and fiscal discipline.
