The complexity of legal communication, the specifics of the text types and the peculiarities of legal phraseology place high demands on translators. One goal of translation studies research is therefore to provide tools that make legal translation easier. Bielawski's work stands in this context. In a comparison of German and Polish legal languages, in particular German and Polish indictments, he identifies and analyzes legal phraseology as a problem of legal translation. He also shows how insights from phraseology research can be used in practice for legal translation. The text-type-related tools he developed and presented here for translating legal phraseology in the language pair German-Polish are extremely valuable for translation practice. The same applies to his instructions for developing analogous tools for other text types and language pairs.
