The chapter discusses the importance of language varieties and their interference when a person starts learning a pluricentric language and belongs to monocentric language community in terms of a legal lect. It aims at proving the hypothesis that legal lects of a pluricentric language are not uniform with monocentric language which may affect communicativeness gravely. The research corpora encompassed the particular civil codes of German and English speaking countries. The research methods that the authors applied in this paper, to verify or falsify the hypotheses, comprise (i) the analysis of comparable texts (ii) terminological analysis of research material (empirical observation of legilinguistic reality) (iii) the concept of adjusting the target text to the communicative needs and requirements of the community of recipients. The main findings of the research have both theoretical and applicative dimensions.
