Abstract

The linguistic particularities of translated texts have long been of interest to scholars, but its structural components have not yet been fully studied. Based on the analysis of many translated items, this paper reveals the structural components and cultural attribute of the language of translated texts. As a universal translation phenomenon, the language of translated texts consists of language transferred from SL (source language), culturally marked TL (target language) and culturally unmarked TL, which exist even at the sentence level, in isolation from each other or in combination. From the perspective of culture, the language transferred from SL highlights the source culture, and the culturally marked TL highlights the target culture. Their co-occurrence and intermingling confers a double cultural attribute called cultural creolization to the language of translated texts.
