Abstract

The study of unaccusative constructions has received considerable attention in the linguistics literature. However, the investigation of the translational properties (or translatibility) of these constructions into other languages seems to be ignored in both the linguistic and the translation literature. The main objective of this study is to investigate the relevance of the semantic features of the English unaccusatives to the translational properties of these constructions into Arabic. The author aims to find out if it is feasible to identify some translation implications on the basis of the semantic features of the English unaccusatives.
