This paper draws on an extensive corpus and sets out to discuss quality in media interpreting with particular reference to interpreted press conferences broadcast at the end of every Formula One Grand Prix. The analysis shows that quality requirements in media interpreting are essentially different from those generally found in conference interpreting, appropriate production of form rather than accurate re-production of content often being the key to a successful performance.
