Abstract
This paper starts from two main ideas: linguistic approaches to translation are reductionist and translation theory has not traditionally been in touch with reality. Translation teaching should supersede that and begin to pose real situations with different and realistic parameters (readerships, texts, etc.) to enable the future translators to face reality when they finish their degrees.
