Abstract
This study deals with animated films aimed at children and youth with a dual objective: first, from an intralinguistic point of view, to understand the use of subtitling to make Spanish produced animated films accessible to Spanish audiences with impaired hearing; second, from a interlinguistic perspective, to understand the linguistic and translatological challenges of transferring this audiovisual product to German-speaking viewers. A review of the parameters governing subtitling for the deaf shows that, in general, the normative guidelines have been followed. Moreover, the interlinguistic analysis shows that the translation into German was made using the English version of the film which may present consequences for German speakers given the cultural context of the adaptation.
