Abstract

Alexandre Pushkin, Russia's national poet, remains unknown to the French public. One of the reasons for this situation lies in the first non-translational transfers of Pushkin's works. The present study analyzes the empirical character of the transfer processes at the beginning of the 19th century which resulted in the creation of the myth of this author's untranslatability.
