Τhe article refers to the training of translators of technical texts , especially in areas in which the translation of terminology has proved to be difficult. Based on the modern communicative theory of translation, and teaching experience, the author presents the methodology to be followed in the early stages of the translating process ('dynamic' reading and documentation with the use of parallel texts). The main aim is to encourage novice translators to turn theoretical principles into useful practical tools which will prove to be indispensable for overcoming translation difficulties.
