Abstract

This article deals with the changes machine translation has brought. The author argues that in the technicological age, partial faithfulness and overall intelligibility have priority over other concerns like stylistic and artistic considerations. Translation has to be quick, cheap and immediately accessible. In order to compete with machines, human translators have to make themselves machines.
