The author states that the ethics of all translation and interpretation has to do with choosing texts. She argues that the texts, authors or canvasses one chooses to translate, write or speak on, have to provide the right space for one's mind to work in. She draws from Derrida, Benjamin, Breton and Wittgenstein and illustrates her point with e.g. Mallarmé's translation of Ten O'Clock, a lecture given by the American painter James Abbott McNeill Whistler who Mallarmé admired.
