Abstract

Wetherill tackles in an anecdotic way the fact that critics who use translations hardly ever situate them in relation to the original text which they only occasionally quote. He draws attention to the fact that this practice turns one away from the specificity of the original. He concludes that clear distinctions should be made between, for instance, original quotes and translated quotes and between statements about texts and statements about translations.
