This article presents some considerations on machine translation. It first wonders whether machine translation is booming and whether human translators are doomed. Then, it considers the proper place of translation experts in MT. Next, it embarks upon early attempts to establish translator-oriented MT systems. Finally, it presents a conclusive remark with respect to the future.
