This paper embarks upon the core of some semantic correspondences in the English and Russian verbal systems. The author first looks at some conceptual features of phrasal verbs, considers their main function, looks into some semantic particularities and warns to keep into account their polysemy, which sometimes is almost homonymy. He also states that good translation of phrasal verbs is highly dependent on the context in which they are used.
