This article offers a survey of the translation equivalents given by Arab terminographers of the -eme terms in English. The study reveals that a number of factors seem to have determined the translations. These factors include (a) differences between Western linguists in using some -eme terms, (b) the lack of one-word equivalents in Arabic to express the concepts denoted by -eme derivatives in English, (c) the employment of different translation techniques, (d) the lack of consistency, (e) the difficulty to combine denotative precision and formal concision simultaneously, and (f) the psychological influence of the formal characteristics of the English terms, which is manifest in the use of direct borrowing and hybrid creation when translation is possible.
