In this paper, the author shows some of the conclusions of the observational analysis carried out from the descriptive view on Translation Studies regarding the source text of a play and its two English translations. Their opposed directionality provokes linguistic, cultural and genre convention differences, since we deal with a dramatic text and therefore with a double purpose: a reading and a staging one. On the macrolevel the author analyzed the translational strategies adopted by both translators and submitted to directionality as well as the solutions held by each target text, or Andreea Gheorghitoiu's version (which is a thème translation published in Romania and distributed abroad) and TT2 or Dennis Deletant's version (which is a direct translation published in UK).
