Abstract

This paper constitutes an attempt for a preliminary analytical survey of some important aspects of the formative phase known as the Tanzimat period, which may serve as a basis for further and more detailed functional evaluations of translated literature in the late Ottoman as well as in the contemporary Turkish literary polysystem.
