The adapted version of Mérimées short story Carmen is the result of a research project focusing on the problem of computer-aided lexical adaptation. The first item of this article deals with learning and repeating vocabulary. Next, the two phases of the adaptation process are outlined. The computer as a tool is the third topic. The lexical adaptation factor and substitution relations are the final issues.
