Abstract

Rühling traces the fate of geographical proper names when they are translated into a different language and culture. He analyses this interlingual and intercultural transfer in the German translations of three naturalistic novels by August Strindberg: Röda Rummet (The Red Room), Hemsöborna (The People of Hemsö) and I Havsbandet (At the open sea).
