Wright, Sue Ellen. 1993. The inappropriateness of the merely correct: stylistic considerations in scientific and technical translation. In Wright, Sue Ellen and Leland D., Jr. Wright, eds. Scientific and technical translation (American Translators Association Scholarly Monograph Series 6). Amsterdam: John Benjamins. pp. 69–88.

Abstract

This paper has demonstrated the extent to which stylistic considerations affect every level of target-text generation, underscoring the importance of appropriate functional equivalence at all levels. This contention is based on the premise that a company’s commitment to high quality is reflected in its literature and product documentation. Quality-minded industries increasingly emphasize the theory that company quality is only as high as the standard maintained by its least-quality-conscious employees. According to the author, translators cannot afford to be an exception to this concern.
