Abstract
The problem of the limits of translation is dealt with in this article. Nevertheless, this question is envisaged in the opposite way in this paper, as the author does not highlight the losses, but, au contraire, the faithfulness to the original, which prevents a translation from being read as a text immediately produced in French. This problem is especially relevant to certain English medical texts that are different from analogous French texts concerning the way they embark upon the subject and organize the exposé. Also, the author looks into the medical and linguistic competences required for practicing medical translation, as well as certain aspects of the training of medical translation.
