Abstract

This article primarily focuses on Raoul de Presles’s translation of St. Augustine’s De Civitate Dei. It is of particular interest for its information about translation as commissioned and executed within Charles V’s court. De Presles’s prologues reflect one medieval translator’s concern for problems of structure and for manuscript divergences.
