Abstract

In this paper, the author focuses on the discussion of translation as product in her investigation of diverse ways in which the comparative study of translations can aid literary translators become self-aware, more susceptible to issues of class, gender, race, religion and ethnicity in their work. Maier evaluates the effectiveness of the approaches as she has used in translation workshops, fostering self-reflection and incite debate among translators – professionals and students alike – with respect to the general workings of ideology as reflected in the translation of gender.
