Abstract

In this paper, Neubrecht concentrates on the textual approach to translation. Taking the text as the core unit of translation, he investigates the contribution made by text linguistics to translation and makes a distinction between holistic and generic translation. He provides some insights on the following topics: meaning in translation (i.e. communicative value), equivalence as textual phenomenon, the units of translation, text-bound translation, parallel texts and adequacy.
