Abstract

Meintjes maintains that the resources people employ in order to produce and interpret texts are not only cognitive but social, building on assumptions that, directly or indirectly, legitimize dominant discourses. She advocates that translation students be trained to discover the underlying assumptions of various discourses, and to look critically at how practicing translators subject their work to the do's and don’ts of discourse.
