Abstract

Miller’s paradigm for the coming into being of the ‘unforeseeable’ is the multifarious circulation, among cultures, of the book of Ruth. For Miller, Ruth is “a narrative of alienation and assimilation that can exemplify theoretical propositions about the travel of theory,” particularly, that is, about its unpredictability. What interests the author about Ruth is, then, its intercultural vicissitudes.
