Abstract

This essay analyses the bases of the translation model traditionally underlying the workings of translation and rewriting in the field of philosophy, a model privileging the transmission of meaning. As opposed to this, and with the help of case studies from current philosophical translations, alternative translation models are studied. These models see the translation of philosophy as creating new meanings and therefore foster the freeplay of the signifiers.
