Abstract

The article examines the causes and functions of Anglicisms in contemporary European Spanish. To this end, the author reviews the traditional structural approaches which have inspired most of the lexicological studies, as well as others from such disciplines as text linguistics and sociolinguistics. The framework of this work is mainly based on the functional methodology by M.A.K. Halliday.
