Abstract
This article shows evidence of the growing adoption of Spanish political terms as reflected in the American press and examines the motives and functions of borrowings in journalists dealing with politics. The article focuses on the lexical and morphological variations and on their linguistic and pragmatic or sociolinguistic conditionings.
