One could argue that the fairy tale La Fée aux Miettes by Charles Nodier is the most important of the stories which are collected by Pierre-Georges Castex in the collection Cycle des innocents. The protagonists of these stories live in a universe of dreams and insanity. This article points out some difficulties which turned up during the translation of this literary text from the first part of the 19th century: the translation of proper names, the translation of personal pronouns and the translation of proverbs.
