Abstract
What do insights into translation, power, rising nationalism, dissolution of empire, exile, and displacement mean for the practicing translator? In this paper, Maier provides insight into how unsettling such paradigm shifts are. In an analysis of her work translating the essay of Cuban poet Octavio Armand, entitled Poetry as Eruv, the author reveals her shifting and often contradictory feelings.
